Dear Families:
At Esperero Canyon Middle School (ECMS), home of the Eagles, we begin and end with the student. We want to know each and every student on our campus. Our goal is to prepare students to be career and college ready, educating them to become lifelong learners and global citizens. We want all students to feel a sense of self-worth, engagement and purpose.
Esperero Canyon is a learning community committed to providing students with a rigorous and challenging curriculum that incorporates the deep learning proficiencies: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Communication, Citizenship, Creativity and Innovation, Collaboration, and Systems Thinking. Our students are engaged daily in cutting edge curriculum and instruction in English language arts, math, physical education, health, science, social studies, and Spanish (including the Global Studies Program for native speakers and students who have participated in an immersion program in elementary school).
Through our district’s Community Schools Program, extracurricular choices for our students range from sports to study hall, clay club, gardening club, junior naturalists, recycling club, and the annual school musical. Our extracurricular activities encourage and promote stewardship of our beautiful desert flora and fauna in addition to helping students develop diverse interests beyond the classroom.
At Esperero, we love it when our students engage in academic competition! We offer opportunities to participate in the Geography, History, and Spelling Bees as well as First Lego League Robotics and Science Olympiad. We are proud of our Eagles and all of their accomplishments.
We invite you to become an Eagle at Esperero Canyon Middle School and become part of our caring and collaborative community of excellence where all students are:
- known, respected, and feel a sense of belonging.
- challenged and supported by a well-trained, caring staff.
- global citizens who are well-prepared to prosper and thrive in middle grades, high school, college, and beyond.
- part of an inclusive community of student learners focused on making the world a better place.
