Principal Rob Henikman, Archie, Mrs. Landau, and Lupita Monreal
Catalina Foothills School District is proud to recognize Melissa Landau, first grade teacher at Manzanita Elementary School, as CFSD’s Legendary Teacher.
Melissa is known for her exceptional dedication, which has shaped her students' learning. Her thoughtful approach to teaching ensures that every child feels understood, supported, and capable.
Parent Lupita Monreal shared this heartfelt tribute:
“You carry a beautiful gift and a true calling for teaching. Despite the many challenges that arose, you always gave more than what was expected, with kindness and grace. When my son needed special care and attention, you never hesitated to provide it with the best attitude, patience, and compassion. You made him feel understood, supported, and capable, and for that, we will be forever grateful.”
Mrs. Landau's colleagues describe her as an educator who goes above and beyond to ensure each child’s success, often providing extra help, encouragement, and joy to those who need it most. Students in her class used words like kind, patient, funny, caring, and amazing to describe her, proof of the impact she has on young learners every day.
Mrs. Landau is a CFSD alum, beginning at Canyon View in kindergarten and graduating from Catalina Foothills High School. It’s deeply rewarding to see a former student come full circle and give back to the same community that helped shape her.
For being selected as a Legendary Teacher, Mrs. Landau will receive a $1,000 honorarium, along with a certificate and book provided by Teachers Change Brains, a nonprofit funded through NAU Ernest W. McFarland grant funds. Congratulations, Mrs. Landau, and thank you for making a lifelong difference in your students' and families' lives.
